The Sun says he must
write a letter of apology to Morocco football chiefs for sending
abusive TEXTS.
The QPR midfielder
slated coach Rachid Taoussi after he was snubbed for the African
Nations Cup.
Taarabt, 23, had said that if selected he wanted to play in the three-week tournament, which starts in January, despite missing key games for QPR.
But Morocco coach Rachid Taoussi claimed in a news conference that Taarabt refused to meet him when he travelled to London to see the player.
But Morocco coach Rachid Taoussi claimed in a news conference that Taarabt refused to meet him when he travelled to London to see the player.
In a statement, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation mentioned a report they had received from Taoussi denouncing "the unacceptable attitude of the player who showed a lack of respect to him [Taoussi] during an exchange of text messages."
Meanwhile Taarabt says
he can rescue QPR from the drop.
QPR are two points
adrift at the bottom of the table after drawing 0-0 at home to
Tottenham on Saturday and fellow strugglers Reading came from two
goals down to beat West Brom.
"I can play a big
part,” Taarabt told the London Evening Standard. "I know people
think I have a big head, I am not like this but I think I am an
important player for this team and if I have a good four months I
think we can stay in the Premier League.
"I just play my
natural game, the way I’ve done since I was young. I am the player
who can score a goal and win the game for my team. Every time I’m
on the pitch, I know I can make things happen.
"All the teams I play
against now, know how I play so I try to mix up my game. I play
simple and when they think I’m going to play simple, I surprise
them and dribble and have a shot."
