African football gossip: Diame, Katongo, Drogba, Mbia and Belhanda

Arsenal set to sign Senegalese Diame, Chelsea keen on Mbia, No China exit for Katongo and Drogba is still on Juventus radar.



Arsenal are 'reportedly' trying to sign midfielder Mohamed Diame, 25, from West Ham by offering £3.5m for the Senegal star.


The Hammers have offered the Senegal star, 25, a new deal just six months after he joined from Wigan Athletic.

But it depends on him agreeing to double a release clause to £7million.

Reading hope to land Zambia defender Stoppila Sunzu, 23.  Sunzu is training with the English side and will undergo a pre-transfer medical ahead of a possible move.

Spurs and Fenerbahce target Younes Belhanda is fit to play for Morocco in the African Cup of Nations after his thigh injury was confirmed as not serious. Both Fenerbahce and Tottenham are still keen to snap up the playmaker

Zambia captain Christopher Katongo says he will see out the remainder of his contract at demoted Chinese club Henan Jianye.

Henan was demoted at the end of the 2012 Chinese Super League season after finishing bottom of the 16-team competition.

Italian agent Andrea Pretti feels Juventus can sign Shanghai Shenhua striker Didier Drogba.

Pretti is an expert on the Far East transfer market and believes the Ivorian captain could still end up in Turin.

Chelsea are planning a surprise swoop for QPR midfielder Stephane Mbia.

The Daily Express says the potential move may hinge on whether the Hoops are successful in their attempt to land unsettled Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila.
